GR Jani - Boys Hostel

G R Jani is a pretty decent place to stay. Yeah ! some people in our seniors' group did fall prey to malaria.....apparently in OUR super-seniors' batch, there were mor "regular" malaria-affecetd people. But no one in our batch was affected by the same. In fact, people staying in other hostels fell prey to the disease !!! See, it ultimately depends on certain basic precautions & hygeine that one needs to take care of. I would suggest u bring some mosquito coils etc. (hostel provides u with mosquito nets but not too sure abt. when they'd provide it to you guys).

Situation does tend to get a bit bad during monsoons. Since Vile Parle is a low-lying suburb (like all other Western suburbs in Bby), water tends to get filled in pretty quickly here. In fact, i'd be frank enuff & even admit that few rooms leak during the monsoons.....but its when the rains are REALLY heavy.

I've stayed in many govt. college hostels during my undergrad days & trust me ! this college towers over all of them. The bathroom is actually kept clean. There is a black granite flooring there....the faucets actually work & U also get hot water (not that u'd need that too much). Bear with the monsoons & the remaining year is gonna be smooth sailing :-)

Food is OK....the caterers in Mumbai are mostly kannadigas & hence don't expect north indian food....even if its there, it'd be with a "touch" of south india :-) Don't expect hostel food to be like ghar ka khana. Also, only veg. food. No non-veg food in the mess. but u can order stuff from outside. But the main advantage with hostel food is that its very cheap & no ! u needn't pay compulsory charges for the mess. Pay as & when u eat. That system was discontinued with our batch. BTW, sunday dinner is always out.
