Hostel or Flat?

In response to:

"Is hostel better or flat sharing for the first year?" by Ankit.

 

Till last year I used to suggest Hostel, at least for the first year. Now, without a second thought Flat.

There are only three advantages that the hostel(G R Jani) has:

  1. Food
  2. Proximity to college
  3. And the most important advantage - Networking. The kind that is not possible living in flats.

But, even with these advantages there are some serious disadvantages:

  1. It is nowhere near value for money. And even more so for your batch.
  2. There is constant nagging on behalf of the authorities. Persistently irritating you with some new restriction or the other.

The hostel is not reserved for MBA students. You will have B Com, B Tech people from other SVKM colleges also living with you.

    i also feel that in flat i can have good networking with my current frnds(non- nmims) most keep visiting mumbai for some or the other reason.

    Girls hostel is good... relatively speaking a 7 Star setup!

    Not heard of any unreasonable changes there... or issues. So you don't have anything to worry about... apart from the exorbitant amount they'll be charging you!
