i was reading ur posts and saw that you people are unnecessarily worrying too much.
1. regarding accomodation: i stayed in g.r.jani hostel in the first year (am moving to a flat this year) and would say that it is better then the rest of the places being offered by nm anyday.. see it may be a bit small and cramped and the food is very bad but at least u have a canteen here plus it is closest to the college and also the people of my batch who were staying here were quite fun so we had a nice time... if ur looking for apartments then u might have the problem of not knowing too many ppl initially in the college and also all the seniors are lookin for flats for 2nd year and so most of the good properties would have been taken...

2. regarding cells : the most important cell in the college is the placecom cell and after that the student council and den comes the rest like alumni and finance cell... then the other good and active cells in the college are the IIP cell (industry interaction patnership) and optimuz (operations)..rest of the cells including marketing and all are basically non existent...

3. placement: the concept of laterals was started last year. the placement week for laterals is in the month of december and ppl havin more then 22+ months work ex are eligible. for the normal placement it is the first week of february and the whole college was placed by the second day of placment

4. the studies here is not at all rigorous and just studyin days before the exams would get u very good grades but its upto u ... :)... ppl taking finance can think abt giving CFA and there are loads of events happenin like b-plans and paper presentations which will take up most of your time ( that is if u want to participate in them)

p.s - foundation program during our time was a waste...... but u never know wht gonna happen dis time....
