At G R Jani, the speed is pathetic in few rooms.....incl. that of urs truly ! Only Orkut is decently available. All Google-sites like Gmail & Gtalk are also very easily accessible.....the remaining sites take hours. Apparently, in other flats-cum-hostels, the speed is much better. Also, in other rooms in other wings of G R Jani, the connection might be better. But we have not had good experiences since the last 4-5 months with the G R jani hostel Wi-Fi Connection.
At the hostels, one can access ANY site.....and when I say "any", it MEANS "any" ! No restrictions.
@ College
Speed is very good here.....occassionally it does go down when many people are using it simultaneously, but most of the times, its very good.
One usually can't access yahoo & MSN chat from college....even Orkut is banned. But there are ways to get around these restrictions. While, the chat sites can be accessed via meebo.com, Orkut can be accessed via kproxy.com.
One can't download torrents or music or films from any site in the college (it'd be disabled)....owever, apparently, with some fine twealing, one can get around that also. but don't know too many "gory" details about that ;-)

At the hostels(both boys and girls) filters have been introduced. There is a persistent issue with even sites which are of regular use getting blocked. I, in my capacity as a member of the Student Council have been getting the problems solved, and you will have your own councillors to help out.
